GBF selects U-23 players, Coach for Paraguay 3×3 training

Following the signing of a developmental memorandum of understanding between the Guyana Olympic Association and its Paraguayan counterpart, the Guyana Basketball Federation (GBF) will now participate in a 3×3 training camp for four U-23 players and a coach.

This was disclosed in a press release from the GBF. According to the correspondence, the four players are Stephen George, Anish Ramlall, Domitre Ranking, and Arren Vanlewin, with Willon Cameron making the trek to Paraguay in the capacity of coach for the high-performance training camp slate for June 9–13 in Paraguay.

The programme serves as preparation for athletes slated to compete at this year’s Junior Pan Am Games in Asunción from August 9th-23rd.

GBF President Michael Singh said, “The GBF welcomes the opportunity to expose our young players to a format of the game that is a high priority in our vision for basketball in Guyana.”

According to Singh, “3×3 basketball is a vital part of our efforts to elevate the sport.

Through partnerships like this with the GOA, we are able to give our emerging talent the exposure they need.”

“We also welcome the opportunity to expose our coaches, and Coach Cameron is a worthy candidate. He has taken deliberate steps to become qualified, and his work at the youth level, especially at President’s College, speaks for itself. While 3×3 may be a new coaching format for him, we are confident that he will apply his knowledge from the traditional game effectively,” Singh further said.
