Cruise passenger killed in jet ski crash in the Bahamas

A cruise ship passenger died in a jet skiing accident in the Bahamas after she smashed into a rock, officials said.

The 73-year-old British-Czech national lost control of the jet ski and collided with a rock on Saturday afternoon at Half Moon Cay, according to the Royal Bahamas Police Force (RBPF).

First responders rushed to the scene and provided medical assistance “but to no avail,” officials said. She was pronounced dead by a local doctor.

The woman had been sailing on board Holland America Line’s ship the Nieuw Amsterdam, which hosts more than 2,000 guests and had left Fort Lauderdale on March 16.

The ship had stopped for a day at the beach on the private island when the “personal watercraft” accident occurred, a cruise line spokesperson told The Post in a statement.

“We are in contact with the guest’s family and doing everything we can to support them during this difficult time,” Holland America said.

“The accident is currently being investigated by the Bahamian authorities. Out of respect for the family and guest, we do not have further information to share.”
