CONNECTICUT (WTNH) – Dozens of Connecticut bookstores are participating this Saturday in the 11th Annual Independent Bookstore Day!

All 21 independently-owned stores on the CT Book Trail will help celebrate the day with special items, sales, and events- all varying based on the location.

Also happening this weekend if the Connecticut Bookstore Passport Program, where people who participate can win over $4,000 in prizes.

The passport program encourages readers to visit the shops- each unique and charming in their own way- and to foster a love of reading and books.

Visitors can participate by visiting the bookstores on April 27 and 28 to get their passport booklet stamped. More information on how to participate can be found on the CT Book Trail website.

Participating bookstores include Breakwater Books in Guilford, Possible Futures in New Haven, and the RJ Julia Booksellers in Madison and Middletown.
